about

“The St Petersburg gig, on November 27th, 2000, rested on the initiative of a long time fan, installation artist and designer Oleg Kuptsov, along with Gleb Palamodov and Sergey Vasiljev. All three had been dreaming for many years to see Tuxedomoon playing in their home town. Oleg Kuptsov: “This gig was my first experience of the kind as I’m not a concert promoter. When friends from the Materiali Sonori label told me that the band was going to make a tour of some European cities in November 2000, I sent an email to Steven Brown to propose a date in St Petersburg. He was quite enthusiast about the idea.

When the band finally showed up on November 26th at St Petersburg’s airport, after months of preparation, I almost couldn’t believe it. To my view their show at the State Music Theater was truly amazing, powerful and extremely well received by the audience. It sounded like fresh contemporary music although these were pieces that they composed more than 20 years ago.””
